Desperate for a pet tarantula, Ian Bullock went to the pet store only to be told tarantula bites cause pain, swelling, and vomiting. He settled for a frog instead. His next pet, a white rat named Sylvester, stole his heart and chewed up his mattress. Years later, Sylvester inspired much of Max Five: Mars Academy, Ian's yet-to-be-published novel.
Ian studied Creative Writing at the University of Victoria and at the University of British Columbia and has published in many leading magazines. Today he works as a high school teacher on Vancouver Island. He can't decide if he’s a teacher with a writing problem, or a writer with a teaching problem.
He lives with his wife, two boys, and dog. He has not been to Mars. Yet.
